Today's New York Times details how the labor unions are supporting and condemning (yes, both) the current legislation on immigration reform. It's an interesting take from a different perspective. I can't say that I'm surprised that there are unions on either side of the legislation, but I was keen on the part of the article that detailed how some unions believe that legalizing immigrants could lead to a resurgence for the labor movement as a whole, as they too will be able to be unionized and probably have the greatest need for unionization.
It's an interesting read that's pretty quick and dirty. Definitely worth it.

I would hope that unions were on the side of legalizing immigration. It only makes sense. I believe a certain...oh what's his name? Oh that's right, CESAR CHAVEZ was one of the most prominent union activists of the history of unions and if the name is any indication, he was....Latino.
