Dear Lord

As if the Catholic church had nothing more pressing to do, they have created some new sins. Just what this world needs. I mean, I'm all about regulation but I guess I'm anti-regulation in the religious realm. Can't we focus on getting people to follow the Golden Rule and the basic Ten Commandments before we start enforcing other rules. And to be honest, some of these just sound too trendy for my tastes.

The Vatican opposes stem cell research that involves destruction of embryos and has warned against the prospect of human cloning.
In the eyes of the Catholic church, was this ever not a sin? Were they ever turning a blind eye towards it? Was an official denouncement necessary.
Girotti, in an interview headlined "New Forms of Social Sin," also listed "ecological" offences as modern evils.
It's trendy being Green.

Why can't we focus on poverty and hunger and AIDS and war and all of those things before making NEW sins for people to commit? Aren't the ones we have enough?
